“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” ― Helen Keller
Have you ever found yourself in a bit of a fashion rut? If you haven’t then count yourself as one of the lucky ones! Personally, I’ve often found myself in a style rut. In fact, I’m feeling like I’m in a bit of a rut right now. Right now, I find myself wearing the same few things in my closet. I have a closet FULL of clothing and yet, I find the same 10-12 outfits in rotation for the most part.
The reason? Well, I know they are cute and flattering because at some point I took the time to pull them together. And they’re familiar. And easy And they allow me 15 extra minutes of sleep each morning. They make autopilot all too easy.
And they’re starting to get boring. Very boring. Which is why I’m instituting a monthly fashion challenge. Each month, I (and hopefully my readers) will take on a different fashion challenge for the entire month. The challenge could be anything from incorporating key pieces each day or wearing a new hairstyle each day or figuring out how to rock a night time trend in the day. The point is, it is a challenge.
I will snap photos and post them on Instagram (YourChicisShowing), Twitter (@urchicisshowing) and here on the blog. It is my hope that all of our readers (male and female) will participate, snap photos and share them with is. You can make sure we see your fabulous looks by using the hashtag #ycsfashionchallenge. And don’t forget to email those pics to us at email@example.com!!
Without further adieu let’s get on with the August challenge!
August Challenge: Wear a new outfit everyday (weekends count!) without any repeats.
Why: Because it will force me (and you) to think about clothes again and come up with new and unique ways to wear the clothes in my closet.
The rules: A new outfit must be worn each day; you cannot keep buying new clothes, you must use what you’ve got!; you can repeat individual elements of an outfit (i.e. the same pants) but you cannot repeat an outfit in its entirety; switching out accessories does NOT count as a new outfit. At least 60% (a completely made-up and arbitrary number) of your ensemble should be new.
Tomorrow starts a new month and a new fashion journey for us. I can’t wait to see everyone show their chic!
